Unhappy clutch has little resistence

While driving home tonight, my clutch pedal lost its resistence. I was still able to drive it home, about a mile. I'm thinking master/slave cylinder??? Will I be able to drive it to the dealeship, about 7 miles? Its a 2002 Turbo S. Any suggestions???

So, I let my car sit overnight and this morning, I couldn't even get it into gear. Clutch felt the same. I pumped it and slowly it started to gain resistence, still feels spongy though. I can go through all my gears now. I'm thinking I have leak and air is now in my line. This is my first VW, definately not my last, and I can't find my fluid to check it! I have no owners manual. I've always had Honda/Acuras and this German engine is still tricky to me...

more than likely the slave cylinder has gone bad. Did it drool fluid on the ground overnight or have you notice the fluid level in the brake reservoir low?

If you have no leak, you have an internal leak in the master or slave. Over the year's with the same problem you are discribing, I have replaced 200? or more, and slave's, maybe 10?

It was my master/slave cylinders, my clutch and possiblely my flywheel. Won't know until they take everything apart. Either way, its one expensive job!!! Good thing I LOVE this car. Its making me very poor for the next few months!

I would hope that they would take a look at the master cylinder first before pulling the transmission. Unfortunately on that 6 speed the slave cylinder is integral with the throwout bearing so if its that the transmission has to come out anyways. If you didn't have it at the dealer, it probably wouldn't cost you near as much. And you could get rid of that crappy DMF and replace it with a SMF clutch setup.

Where are you located?
