Check the transmission fluid level, i had another car that did this, it was leaking lots of trans fluid, save yourself a couple thousand bucks, spend 20 on trans fluid

The transmission you have in that car take's two diffrent fluids, one is put in thru the speedometer sensor hole (must remove sensor to fill) this is the (rear end/diff) and the other has a entire filling procedure.
Here it is: 1. Remove the plug from the bottom of the transmission pan. If no Automatic Transmission Fluid (ATF) leaks out of the overflow pipe inside of the plug opening before the ATF temperature reaches 40 degrees Celsius (C) (104 degrees Fahrenheit (F)) then top up the ATF level. 2. Reinstall the ATF plug at the latest before the ATF temperature reaches 45 degrees C (113 degrees F), if necessary switch off the engine and allow the transmission to cool down and repeat the check. 3. To fill the transmission, pry off the plug securing cap with a screwdriver on the side of the transmission. Cap locking device will be damaged when removing, therefore always replace the cap. 4. Pull plug out of filler pipe. 5. Fill with ATF until fluid runs out of level hole in plug in pan. 6. Install both plugs that were removed and a new cap on the fill tube plug. I believe the wine you are hearing is from the rear end fluid being low. Hope this helps. Last edited by NewBeetleMechanic; 10-29-2010 at 06:11 PM.. |

So ... I am confused now.
What exactly is wrong with the car? Yes .. all cars have a rear end so I am not sure what you mean by: "i wasnt aware it had a rear end but that is exactly what it sounds like a rear end with no oit".. Please clarify, and use a few full stops, commas and capital letters. That way we can figure out exactly what you are saying. If we cant understand you we cant help you. I hope the mechanics are not trying to bleed you for money. |

I do not have a picture of it at the moment, if you look at the bell housing behind the engine and to the very most far left cornor of the trans, there is a three wire sensor that sticks about 2.5-3.5 inchs out of the case. You must remove this sensor and fill the housing. The sensor will be black and directly screw into the case. Also the sensor is less then three inchs away from the shifter cable bracket on the trans.
