Default Installing a 6spd into a 99 beetle 5spd Manual

Can the 99 beetle take a 6spd manual?
If so how much work is involved and what parts are needed..?
Thanks

if this is a 2.0, you'll need the 1.8t 6-speed (turbo S, GTI 337/20th, etc), obviously.. and bascially everything that it connects to

6-speed flywheel, clutch, pressure plate, axles, and shift linkage.

If you are looking for better gearing, you'd be better off putting a TDI 5-th gear in it. Costs a ton less and is far less effort. Gets you a bit better gearing for on the highway. There was a 5-th gear swap for sale here for $175 that keeps popping up. I'll probably do the swap myself eventually.

Lots of work, expensive, no real benefit. Summary: don't bother.
