Default Cold weather = hard to shift 02 TS

Title says it all. 02 Turbo S. 6 spd manual. When the ambient temp is warm, shifts smooth as silk. When the temp drops, the pressure required to shift into R or 1st is very hard. By the time the car is warmed up, 2 minutes say, shifts as normal.

Example, this morning it was 34 degrees F, almost could NOT get into R. This afternoon was 60 degrees F, smooth as silk.

What could be temperature related that would make it hard to shift?
