Exclamation Shaking/Shuttering/Whatever...????

My bug was in storage for 2 months in a heated warehouse. I just got it out yesterday and noticed 2 things. 1 - the cruise does not seem to be working now. 2 - (this is a 5 speed BTW) whenever I let my foot off the gas or push it to accelerate, the car shakes/stutters a bit. I don't have this problem when shifting, just when adjusting the speed while driving...Please tell me this could be something as simple as needing more transmission fluid or something. I hope to GOD my transmission isn't going out.
Please let me know your thoughts!

Thanks,
Beth

I would check the motor and trans mounts if it only happens when accel and decel. If the front engine mount comes loose it will end up breaking the block and leave you stranded.

Mine does the same. Has since I got the car. My hubby said he noticed it with his old VR6 Passat too. No problems with motor mounts at all.

I am glad yours is fine, but it is still good information and something he wants to check. My failure to check has cost me almost $800.00 for a new timing belt kit, block repair kit and labor for the same type of issue. I got a very good price on the labor and parts otherwise this could easily exceed $1500.00 to repair. IMHO

Hmmm..well my concern is that it never did it before it went into storage, and it's driving me nuts. I can't imagine a car should do that normally. I'm wondering if there is something going on that would also affect the cruise so it's a single issue effecting everything.
Could something have happened while it sat for 2 months, or is it possible that when it was in storage or in transport to/from, that someone could have damaged it somehow?

its not likely something broke in storage. It is likely you just did not notice it before. Better safe than sorry in my book.

I agree. I've had my car for 6 years so often I don't even realize that its doing it. You probably got used to it. Then after 2 months of driving it, it felt more pronounced. Take a check on your mounts, but I know this is something I've heard of others having the same thing go on.

Thanks for your help. I'll get the mounts checked out. And I'm sure it didn't do it before. I'd definitely notice a neck jarring jerk/shutter everytime I hit the gas or let off of it.

Thx!
Beth

My beetle es this. Mechanic said its due to some of the hoses for the air intake business being loose and or cracked. If your car was sitting for a few months perhaps a hose or two needs replacing. take it and have it inspected for sure. You dont want to suffocate your beetle. I also wouldnt slam on the peddle you dont want tons of pressure pushing through the hoses if theyre messed up. Theyre super cheap to replace.
