Default Lucas transmission fix

Was wondering what every one's thought are on Lucas transmission fix.

I have a 2000 AEG beetle with an automatic and it has less than silky-smooth shifts. I have changed the fluid and filter, but the shifting is still the exact same. I've had the car for a while and it hasn't got worse, but I'd like to make it better.

Will the Lucas stuff do any harm?

Thanks
Chris

I used it in Cup. She's got 155,000 miles on her. After changing her fluid and filter, I added some of the Lucas fluid.

She does seem to shift better. I'm sure changing 10 year old fluid with 150K miles on it helps too.

I dunno. VW auto fluid is very different from "the red stuff" you find in typical autos, it's more like a lightweight hydraulic oil. Anyway, I'd have questions on compatibility, but if it worked well for Al...

I was thinking...
You know how the 01M tranny is- especially when they're showing their age. I figured it can't hurt, especially the way those transmissions start to act up

Fortunately for me, mine is holding up fine.

BTW, I got the Lucas oil idea from a previous thread posted by fellow orger, Savethebluths.org.

I believe there is no real fix-in-a-bottle...

Back in my old aircooled days.. I had the 'brilliant' idea to add Lucas oil stabilizer to my crankcase oil... that turned out to be a HUGE mistake that caused the engine to over heat in the worst way.

I'm not sure about Lucas in trannys but... I'm certain that just by changing fluid and filter will make a huge difference alone.

True.
Kinda goes back to my statement a post or so back. I think changing the tranny fluid was the biggest factor on Cup's improved shifting. Still for me, the Lucas doesn't seem to generate any adverse effects.

I'm amazed over VW's claim of "lifetime transmission fluid"...yeah right.

No I haven't, BUT there's according to the vortex, and from personal experience, You can use Valvoline Mercon V transmission fluid. It's much cheaper and meet's VW's OEM specs.

Let me find my print out that I got off the 'tex and I'll submit my research.

to cover my rump... use at your own risk- I am not responsible.
