I have the little plastic ball cap that has to be pressed onto the manual transmission linkage metal ball in my 5-spd '98 Beetle under the shift lever. I am under the car on my back with the lower cover and linkage removed. Pretty much can't get two hands on it at once without ripping out the exhaust system. The manual reads to heat the plastic cap in hot water. Tried that, and it still won't press on. Any body know of any tricks to do this? Or thoughts?
Thanks! Mike L. |
