Default Rattle? Please help with suggestions

So I have a 2006 New Beetle Conv. with 58,000 miles. I purchased it used at 30,000 miles. I have had no issues except for having to buy a new battery. Now I can hear a significant Rattle when I hit the gas. I can sort of isolate it when I am in netural and hit the gas. I believe it has something to do with my transmition. I have 5 speed manual. Is this a problem with the fly wheel? Is this common in this year Beetle?

All suggestions and input are welcome.

Thanks ahead of time.

Steve.

Sounds like it could be the exhaust bit that breaks loose in the middle of the Bug. Small clip thing

I'd lean more toward an exhaust issue. Possibly a bad cat or a loose heat shield.
