5 speed cable connections
OK folks, looking for some input here. I've got a 99 2.0 5 speed bettle trying to replace the shifter. Got a used box and cables, and new plastic bracket for the tranny but the cable ends don't seem to match up. I've been told that the cables have been changed by VW and that only the ball type made onto new cables will work. Anybody have a picture they can send of a connected cable?

Here are a couple of pics for you ...
This one is just like yours... This one is the original from '98 ... The two ARE NOT interchangeable. I do believe that the Turbo S is different also, but I do not have a pic of it.
