Default Auto to manual...MORE INFO QUICK!

Got an 03 convert. Only 37K-yes I said 37k...and valve body/warranty just aren't worth the fight. I grew up driving a stick. My dear husband rebuilds salvaged Mustangs and Tremec T-5's on the side. How difficult would it be to swap DSG 6 speed for a Tremec... I don't want to say too much about this to my dear until I have all the facts. He would be more likely consider it if he knew
1. It could be done reasonably priced. (Less than the price of the valve body replacement)
2. Reasonable amount of time.
3. What we would need...
The more info the better!
Please help me before my hubby puts her on Craig's list and buys me a Mustang!
I bleed blue...not Ford blue DUB BLUE!

Valve Bodies aren't too bad in price.
vw transmission valve body

You can also get a brand new auto tranny for about 2000 plus shipping.

Putting a DSG in your bug.. Hmm, not sure if that is possible but you can convert it into a 5 Speed manual.

Cost will still be around 3000+ range. Transmission, Pedals, new ECM/TCM computer, wiring harness, clutch etc.... It will add up.

MichelleRoze on here had the swap done for less than that, parts and labor and all. Keep in mind that the $2000 auto tranny is from PartsPlaceInc (good place for parts IMO) but that is the ONLY place I've ever seen them that cheap. Its usually $3k+.

I'm pretty sure you're car doesn't have a DSG transmission. Probably an 09G. And a mustang gearbox will not fit your beetle, you'll need to use a VW manual tranny.

Tremec is a rear wheel drive trans and can not be adapted to a front wheel drive car.
