I'd be interested to know your results if you go this route, please let me know. If it does work out then I think it's worth it, like worse case replacing all solenoids is like what, $630 bux in total, much less than a $2000 new trans. If it can extend the life for a couple of years, that would be good enough for me. Of course if the rest of the tranny fails shortly afterwards, then I would agree with Tom and Smiley in that it might not be worth it then. So it'd be nice to know your results

But the main reason I'm most interested is that for the not-so-mechanically included (i.e. me), this seems doable (I hope). However a full tranny replacement is definitely not something I think I can do, which means $2000 + labour costs.

P.S. If you do take out the valve body it'd be nice if you could take some pictures and maybe post up a DIY or something. I know of that guy that does the rebuilds, he has some pictures but that only focused on the solenoids and the rest he assumes you know how to do (e.g. doesn't show what/where is the manual valve linkage, doesn't show which bolts to take out and which to leave in, doesn't cover reinstallation, etc etc).

I'll let you know the result. Besides I think even if the other parts fail it's still worth doing this if you are going to rebuild the tranny. Since when you rebuild the tranny you still have to rebuild the valve body, and if you do the valve body prior then when you do the rebuilding you only need to clean the valve body another time. It's not a big deal.
