OH: Quaker-city 1/4 mile race
The NCVWRA is holding their last event of the year on saturday Sept. 11. The event is a 1/4 mile bracket race, that has been getting bigger and bigger every event. Payback is typically $800 for the winner, along with some gift certificates, a case of Brad-Penn racing oil, and t-shirts. Runner up also gets some money, and a case of oil. Payback is 100%. If it is a VW, you can run it. We don't descriminate between water or air cooled here, we just want to enjoy our vw's, and have a nice get together with everyone with a common liking: their car. We have everything from 17 sec street cars, to 9 sec cars show up. Its definately a good time.
Also there is the pittsburgh classic this weekend on Sunday, which is a show, swap meet, and bracket race all in one. The car show is pretty big there, and there are a lot of water cooled guys that bring out their sweet modded rides for the race. We had some guy in a corrado that had his car catch on fire on the first pass, then got it fixed and ran a 8.96 the last pass of the day to win the outlaw class. Its a very exciting time.
As a part of Simpson Racing Engines, we will be showing up to both events. Our '73 super beetle was on the back of the Pittsburgh Classic shirt last year. We just got our new t3/t4 turbo on, and ran a 10.7 on 12 psi. We are gonna crank it up and go all out. Wish I had my NB in show shape, but I am still working on that. So please show up and show us what you got, its a great time.
