Stateline Volksfolks Vintage Picnic
Sunday, July 17th 9am-3:30pm Registration ends at Noon. $5.00 per vehicle ALL VW's Are Invited!!! Rain or Shine. Beautiful & Scenic Alpine Park Alpine Rd. just south of State Street (Business Rt. 20) Rockford, IL. Follow the VW signs to the picnic area. Bring a cooler with lunch and non-alcoholic beverages. I can't make it.
 Family reunion at the park behind my mom's house. I'm going to be #1 helper that day.  I might have my neighbor drive Gayle there though.

It was a hot-n-steamy day, but not too bad if you were out of the sun.
There were 3 New Beetles in the show, and one of the trophy winners is a fellow .org-er. But I'll let her share the details and hopefully post a pic and a description of her trophy......

Thanks for mentioning me BUGSTUFF! This was the first time entering my beetle in something and I ended up winning a 2nd place trophy! By next show, I'm hoping to have a little mods coming

 I debated on showing up early and then leaving at noon, but I ended up being busy in the morning getting ready for the party. The first place winner is an org member also. Dr. Trae. He posted on my thread to see if I was going then edited and gloated.  So where are the pics guys?  Just because the crazy picture taking guy wasn't there, doesn't mean there wasn't an event. I happen to be off that weekend from work, so I may check this show out. Rockford is about 4 hrs south of where I live. I'll see if anyone else in my club would be interested, but it's tough getting them to drive that far. Me? I don't care how far away a VW show is! I LOVE road trips.

What do you do to get ready for a show? does it need to be detailed top to bottom aand inside and out? what do they judge on? If I decide to go to these things Im just wondering what to expect?
my 2 front fenders are marred from someones use of a front bra cover.. I am still waiting to be able to afford repair to paint, and hoping to get some black paint in a few areas when I do get it done. for now its just scuffed looking. and haven't done alot of mods yet. But oh the things I want to do....

I have 179k on my car and obviously its not perfect. My car had a broken fog light for that first show, but that didn't matter to me or the judges. The judges are the participants so who knows and who cares what people think. :-)

Unfortunately, it's now very questionable whether I'll make this show. I'm off that weekend, but my wife is making me go to a family reunion. Joy.
 There is a small chance I could still pull it off since it's on a Sunday. If I drive to the family thing separately, I may be able to break away from it and drive to Rockford Saturday night, depending on where this damn family reunion takes place......Last edited by Pushing Fifty; 04-29-2012 at 11:12 PM..
