Chicago Auto Show 2012 Who's going?

well this little shindig is falling apart fast. casey is no longer able to make it do to an unexpected death of a VERY close friend. So if I do go it will be just me. I'll let ya'll know what I decide later tonight.

Hey just went to the Philly Auto Show last week and it was a lot smaller than last year.

Do yourself a favor and check out the website for the floor diagram. Not sure if all the shows will be smaller or not than last years.

They did not have the new NSX for example in Philly this year. So for the most part it was just a bunch of new car lots that were inside.

Sorry to hear that the show in Philly wasn't all that good, Rob. I would hope that Chicago wouldn't scale it down. That would be a bummer.

I still plan on going. I went out and saw my Hawks lose their 7th straight last night at the local watering hole because I would've been sleeping on the couch if I didn't. 5 hours sleep, 5 hours of work, do some laundry, take a nap, and go out again. If you want to come out by me around 6 tonight and go out you can Scott. Gotta go work. Text me later.

Really just makes sense. Get to my house Friday night, leave fairly early for the show, stay all day, come back, then I'm sure you wouldn't want to go home so...wii, music, and drinks is only logical!

I'd think that we'd leave my house around 8:30 and be up there about 10. It must've been good if you're going back.

I was there Sunday the 12th. I stayed way out in Sycamore (by Dekalb). Had a hell of a time finding parking, but finally did.

As for VW's display, I was looking forward to talking to knowledgable reps instead of salespeople that weren't even born yet when Reagan was president. VW also made a big mistake not having a Base Beetle on display so that the public would realize that it's $6000-8000 cheaper than a Turbo. I understand the up & coming diesel being there, but the other two Beetles were loaded-to-the-gills turbos with sunroofs and nav, which nobody can get because they're on backorder for months!

I love the 2012 Beetle, but there's no way I'm going to pay 26-30K for one when that would buy two nice New Beetles of 2008-2010 vintage. The Base models simply aren't selling, and this is scary. If only the turbo versions of 12+ sell, the water-cooled Beetle community will vanish. I may very well sell my 2000 NB and become a confirmed Passat guy. I have an 07 daily driver Passat already, and I'm thinking about getting a B3-B4 Passat for shows.

It seems that the CAS overall only displayed top-of the-line models instead of having lower-trim versions, regardless of brand. And this is precisely why I buy used!
