Thanks for the link

Bummer it's for Air Cooled VW's but I guess it might still be fun.

I would like to attend that show but 1)I probably have drill that weekend, and 2) it's on the way bottom of IL...a state of which I absolutly hate drivign through.

I started another thread on this event, but since it seems to have moved here, I'll repeat: This is technically an air-cooled GTG, but if enough water-cooled Beetles crash the party, maybe MA Motorworks will go back to supplying aftermarket NB parts like they used to. As far as I'm concerned, Beetles are Beetles, whether the engine is in the rear or front. The ones from 1998 onward are simply an updated continuation of the original Type 1.

I'll be there in my stock Cyber Green 2000 GLS, which finally has matching paint!

lol yeah we have crashed the air cooled party every year , Homer and Kathy have actually won trophies there 2 times , i think it kills them to give trophies to a water cooled but thats what their judges picked so be it !

so come on and join the fun

we usually eat at ruby tuesdays on friday night so if your in the area come on in and join us , just look for a bunch of new beetles

That's awesome...a NB beating out an air-cooled! I'm not sure what time I'd arrive in Effingham Friday..It's an 8-hr drive for me, but I'll try to hit Ruby Tuesday's around suppertime. Come to think of it, I just opened the photos in the link a few posts above. I've seen that baseball Beetle before at that event, and I also recognize a couple that went to Roswell (orange turbo) and that I've seen at the Quad Cities show in Hampton IL. Small world!

Bugstuff and a bunch of other of our local group go down every year. I missed out last year. Maybe I'll get out this year. Plus I'll get to meet a the midwest clan that I haven't gotten to yet.

Now it's going to be a bit tougher for me to pull this off after all. My employer reassigned my Fridays to 1st shift (8-4). This means I'd have to go home, shower, pack, leave by 5:00PM, and either arrive in Effingham around 2:00 AM Sat or split it up and stop somewhere like Bloomington Fri night and drive the rest of the way Sat morning. I'm also going to Minneapolis for a Sunday show. I planned that, anyway. Some guys in my club are attending Effingham until 3:00 or so Saturday, so we'd miss the dinner and the ZZ Top tribute band, and plan to drive 500 miles back to Eau Claire, WI, which would put us in around 11-12:00 that night, then hit the road around 7:00 AM to Minneapolis the next morning. At age 52, 2 days in a row with maybe 5 hrs of sleep isn't as easy as it used to be! I have to make a decision here........

I've since decided to go for it even if I have to work Friday until 4:00 PM. But instead of driving all the way to Effingham from Eau Claire, WI, I'll probably stop somewhere like Bloomington around midnight, set the alarm for about 6:30 the next morning, and drive the remaining 110 or so miles to Effingham Sat morning so I can arrive around 9:00 or 10:00 AM. That would still give me a good 5 hours to enjoy the show. Of course, I'll need to find a good car wash as I roll into Effingham............

I'm not sure if I can make it. After being off work since April 30th, I hope to start my new job next week. We'll see how this pans out.
