I have to go to work. And now my car won't be getting lowered today. Last minute cancellation...dang it. But, it's supposed to storm pretty bad late afternoon. Now my hubby doesn't even know if he's going to go or not.

I'm still going with Lady.

As of now, my stepdad's not sure if he's going or not, but Tramp will still make it, courtesy of our friend Luke. We're picking up parts to finish off his super-moded 90 Jetta (my old Goldie).

I'll represent and post pics later for sure. I'm just hoping that they separate the NBs. The website looked like everyone was just separated by the year of their cars - no stock, mild, wild, even - which would translate to stock Beetle again supermoded GTIs and Jettas easily...

I am half tempted to call out of work today. My allergies are getting the best of me.

well Cult Classic was let's say interesting...

there was no New Beetle class! they put all the NBs in with the Mk IVs b'c of the chassis. so i immediately say the beetle isn't a Mk - the girl agrees with me and calls several other people over - a few of them are ready to add a new beetle class (i pulled in at 8:10 when the gates opened at 8:00 after a wawa stop)... then the guy who organized it says no - no new beetle class b'c no trophies... yet they had a separate class for corrados (but not scirrocos), and passats! passats are more comparable to the Mk classes than beetles...

and to top it off there was no differentiation between stock, mild, wild, etc... or even jetta, gti, r32... it was everything in the Mk iv years... too many cars...

That's ridiculous. The guy that runs it is Josh. He's the one with the crazy beard.

Randy went around 11 and he said it sucked.

yeah, it pretty much did... to top off my frustrations they waited until i had my full display put out before asking me to move the car!!! talk about a waste of my time.

and then they have a mod-ed out R32 with painted wheels pull up alongside me (wheels painted black with painted blue in between the spokes - similar to a color concept look - but all painted - no insert)... i could barely detail my car without getting kicked in the ass or tripped over by people blindly goo-goo-ga-ga-ing over his wheels...

i mean good intentions and all for trying to organize a show, especially a spectator judged event (kudos for a quick vote count at least) - but separate the classes accordingly - you can't compare super-mod-ed out R32s to stock beetles, to mildly-modified jettas - it's like comparing apples to bananas to oranges... they're all completely different cars!

Sounds like that dudes wheels were close to my bug's! I'm very glad I didn't go. I drove past there at like 6pm to head home from getting gas in Coopersburg & no one was there. There was one black NBC parked, but they were playing baseball.

that's funny that the black NBC didn't show.. oh well.

finally got around to some pics - there were 3 NBs representing in the Mk4 class (which was huge by the way)... so in my own little form of protest I'll only post pics of the NBs

That's great! I should do that when I go to meets & shows. ONLY take pics of the new beetles and be like "Oh. Any VW other than a Beetle won't ever be in my camera. Sorry."

I've never been to a car show before. They look like such fun! I ADORE the NB logo on the front of that last green NB. Awesome!

beetle is on the a4 chassis which is same as mkIV jetta/golf..passats are on different chassis..get more beetles to show at that show and i bet they would make a class for you when only three cars show there isn't really a point to make a class just for them...just saying..your badge went out btw..should be out there soon

Randy (silver2001beetle) said Josh (the show creator) will be adding a Beetle class for next year. So, hopefully he will stick to his guns and do that.

we shall see - i certainly had most of the staff convinced of it by the simple statement of beetles aren't marks...

Well, Randy told Josh, there was no way he will enter, or even any of his other friends that have Bugs will enter unless there's a class for NB's alone. Randy is friends with a few people that also have NB's. So, there's plenty out there that would like to show...but just won't at specific shows because they won't seperate the classes, or they just don't like how other VW owners treat the NB's.

If you noticed at Waterama, not too many people came walking by to look at all of our Bugs. They just skipped right over them.

Get used to it. That's how it's always been. Here's what I don't get...

We (NB owners) complain that other VW owners and folks from Vortex don't accept us or our cars, and we want to be respected just the same. I've heard Vortexers say they'd welcome us, except that we have our own little NB clique and they don't feel welcome, or feel like we want to be welcomed. So what about the people that try? What about those of us that go to GTGs and go to shows? Seems like we STILL get shafted. Sure, there's people that go out of their way to check out the Beetles, but let's face it. The majority don't.

You know if I had a Jetta or GTI that was modded the same way my Beetle has been, I'd be accepted no problem. But because it's a Beetle...

I hear ya - and feel it too, especially since I'm involved in my step-dads Jetta, and several other VWs - I love em all...
