2008 Tampa GTG thread.

Hello to the 813

Well Tampa crew, I think it's time for another GTG. The former Tampa thread is old- circa Sept/07. It's time to get something going for 2008. How bout it gang?

First of all, please keep checking in. We had people hopeful to attend a few GTG's last year, but because of poor post viewing/response, some missed the boat, as we did give adequate notice for people to make advance schedule arrangements; Keeping up to date and providing input, will be most helpful to you.

I have a suggestion for a Tampa GTG. There is this thread going on here that features this wiener bug at Mel's Hot Dogs on Busch Blvd. I thought it would be funny/cool to have a GTG there. We could even take a pic or two with our Nb's around the weenie bug Anyhoo, here's the link>>>CLICK HERE.

I live here in Jax, and allthough I could talk to the proprietor via phone, for accomidations, a physical visit would be great. I will be in Tampa, the first weekend in May- I guess I could talk to them then. If anyone would like to spearhead the meeting feel free to take the helm.

I think this would be a fun GTG. 'Sides, i'm always up for a good HotDog.

Not a problem. I'm thinking mid-June; that way we'll have most of the crew rounded up by then. Harry, it's like pulling eye-teeth to get the folks to check in here. I'm not saying that people have to be on the org every day of the week; just one day out of their week should keep them abreast of whats going on. That way they're not slappin their forehead saying....

"I'm sorry, I didn't know the GTG was this past weekend- I would've come if I knew"

Just check in once a week and I think we can get something going

I was in Tampa this past Fri-Sat and before leaving, I made a stop by Mel's Hot Dogs on Busch Ave., just to check it out. It's a pretty cool dig. They weren't open at the time, which was a bummer; I wanted to talk to someone and give them the scoop on what we're wanting to do. Anyhoo, we need to get this thing going.

BTW, the HotDog Beetle is no longer there

oh well I will keep posting stuff for tampa bay folks. Talked to a few of the org folks at Chattanooga. There were a ton of watercooled cars including mine! (though I was not officially part of the show) I drove my NB and I camped! Next year I will try to get my bus ready for that trip. Saw several org folks.
We had a good Saturday night meet. Lots of kid running around and good friends. One has a pair of brand new converse shoes for me tommorrow! I went to BK and I got new shoes!

Rafel, sometimes it's like i'm, to get the Tampa crew to post frequently, to stay up to date with all that's going on. It's not like i'm asking them to be on the org 3,4,5 hours a day; Just check in for a little bit and see what could be in the works.

I might be the NB crew and I am letting myself down by driving the 50 year old car.

with new functioning speedo and non functioning halogen driving lights. I don't know where my wire connectors are at the moment.

I might be instituting my own weekly cruise night every monday at 9pm at a location to be announced. Everybody should have at least one thing to look forward on a monday.

the bus in the background make me drool too. The plan I have is to take the motor out of the 67 beetle move it to the bus. Take the bus to my friend Dave and using his garage space and tools do a partial engine re-build. Then it will have more power. Ultimately I plan on driving it to Tennessee for next years Bug a palooza.
The "also maybe plan" is to take out the transmission on that bus and rebuild it with a taller 4th gear to make it go really fast on the interstate.

I (we) came very close to meeting CayBeetle yesterday, as I was in Orlando meeting one of our beloved org members- CoriBug.

I shoulda gave you notice Ralph on her arrival....Stupid me, sorry.

Anyhoo, We were trying to coordinate Cori's arrival, my arrival and Shelly's work schedule together. Unfortunately, we weren't able to hook up with Shelly. But It seems like Shelly/CayBeetle really has the GTG fever, so i'm game for another one. I'm even up for driving to Orlando.

As i've stated on another thread.....
......and got beat up for suggesting it,

Orgers, especially those who have a desire for GTG's and such. Check into the org at least once a week to see if we're trying to cook up a GTG.

Since the last time many have posted, CoriBug visited our area, and no one knew- sad really. Oh well, I had a blast! Cori is good people and I consider her a friend.

So gang Who's up for a GTG? Place/Date/Time?
