Default Calling all South Carolina NB peeps

***UPDATE*** 8/17/08
Looks like we're going to try this again, Saturday August 23rd this time. Let's get this thing going. Pass the word and make this a fun monthly event. We can always do a mini cruise after dinner. Nothing has to be formal, just pure NB/NBC fun. Plus I don't want to have to say again SC NB owners suck

OK, the day is August 23rd. The time, 3:30. The place, Sweatman's BBQ in Holly Hill South Carolina
Sweatman's is at 1313 Gemini Drive, Holly Hill 29059. Bring cash cause Sweatman's doesn't take credit cards or checks.
Anthony Bourdain/No Reservations gave this place rave reviews so I think we're in for a treat. If time allows, a half hour or so cruise around the low country after dinner would be nice.
See ya next Saturday

Another GTG postponed due to lack of enthusiasm. How pathetic that a GTG for " SC NB peeps" will get a reply from someone from NC and Ga (honestly thanks for the replies guys) but none from SC. Thread got 112 views but no interest. Hate to say it but SC NB owners suck.

Of course any other area owners would be welcomed My wife and I are active in the Element Owners Club and we have monthly "meet and eat's" where we pick an eatery central to everyone and get together on a Saturday later in the afternoons. These are fun since not all members can attend distant meets but would still like to maintain contact with fellow owners. These are particularly popular during the winter months when GTG's are scarce to begin with. Generally different people pick the next months location so it doesn't become one sided and the location, date and time get posted to the thread. So, what say all you SC NB owners. Can we do this? How about the 1st being held on July 26th at 4:30. That will give potential enthusiasts a month to plan their time. Location will be determined upon location of those interested so we can keep this relatively local to everyone. Come on, let's have some fun discussing what we all enjoy so much over dinner.
PS: location doesn't have to be fancy just clean and comfortable

We've found from our experience with the Element Owners Club "meet N eat's" that these are best held on a Saturday. I'm not retired (yet) so weekday outings are out of the question and alot of folks have other obliations for Sundays. Our 1st will be Saturday July 26th at 4:30 PM with location yet to be determined.

I think I am about an hour from Aiken. I just moved here about 2 months ago but haven't ventured over the Savannah yet.

An hour at the very most. Welcome to the CSRA. Not sure if this "meet N eat" will get off the ground since you and HarlequinPixie are the only respondees. I saw your post to the Altzheimers GTG by MicheleRoze. I don't think we'll be able to make that one afterall. I'll update this one come next Friday.

Does your invitation extend to NBC's as well? I'm a South Carolinian and I DON'T suck! If I had seen this before I certainly would have responded, we love meeting new people and I love to talk about my New Beetle - after all, what's not to love about this great car? I traded my 'mom van' in on it in June, and haven't looked back since - Woo Hoo!!!! I just got back from visiting friends in Virginia, and I'm up for another ride...

Well, the suck comment was more tongue in cheek than an actual slam. Of course any NB, vert or not would be welcome. Maybe we can try this again for Saturday August 23rd and see if we can generate more interest this time. It was just very disappointing that there wasn't more enthusiasm for this sort of thing. Alot of folks can't attend the distant events so a "meet n eat" is a nice way to keep intouch with fellow enthusiasts. We have these sorts of events with the Element Owners Club and we can fill the parking lot with anxious attendees. I guess I wasn't expecting the lack of enthusiasm.

Since your location says SC, what may we surmise about you in this situation?

If you read the entire post, you'll note that I suggested we had 112 views and only 2 responses, neither fron SC; Hence my comment. Since I was the creator of the thread and WANT to get this Meet n Eat thing going, I don't suck. Loris should only be an hour or so from Holly Hill. Any intentions on joining us?
September's Meet n Eat is going to be in Savannah if you need more time to plan. Tho I started this thread early in July.
Hope to see you joining us.

If Paula Deens meets your muster, then that would be fine by us. I'll post that once we get past next weekend. Al, Scarab y2K and his wife will be joining us I think for the Savannah Meet n Eat. Hopefully he'll be able to drum up a few more north Florida peeps.

On a positive note, I have been PM'd by a few SC folks so we may gain additional attendees for the 23rd

I have a commitment to be in Greenville sc on the 23rd, Sorry I cannot make this one.

I will confess to not keeping up with the forums, so I will start again so I can plan to make the next event.

Yes, please do. Details won't be posted for the September Meet n Eat till after August 23rd so as not to create confusion. Spetember we'll gather in Savannah so hopefully we can get north Florida folks as well as the Georgia clan. We do this with the Element Owners Club and it has been a big hit since many folks don't get to make distant meets.

You don't have to go I20 all the way to Columbia. I'm planning on taking SC302 right from Aiken. Much more scenic and relaxed of a drive than I20. So be at Express Lube by 9:00, out at 9:45with fresh oil and tire rotation. Starbucks for a Venti Caramel Macchiato then home for a couple episodes of whatever is on HGTV or dusting, your call. Leave Martinez around 12:15ish to arrive in Aiken for 1:00ish. As Arnold would say, "you can do it"
