Savannah is indeed an awesome city. But the date coincides (this is from my point of view) with a performance/workshop by a very great banjo player in northern Georgia and a possible visit to a Morgan horse farm also in northern Georgia. Otherwise, Savannah is a reasonable venue even for Central Floridians.

We sure would like to have you join us. What I have found in doing this is, a firm date needs to be set and those that can plan around it attend. It is good tho to know you think a Savannah GTG could possibly draw from Central Florida as well.![]() Last edited by vwgary; 08-25-2008 at 08:26 PM.. |

I'll keep it scheduled and talk it over with the boyfriend. I have yet to go to savannah yet and I've lived in GA for over a year now. I've been wanting to go, what better way huh? Like I said, I'll double check and see, that's right before classes start so it may or may not work. I'll keep checking back to find out more details.

Since we have just over 3 weeks before the next Meet N Eat I figured I'd put 2 locations on the table for review. Both have outside as well as inside dining and both are on the Savannah River. They are also within the same price range ($10.00- $20.00) and food offerings. In no order they are;
Tubby's Tank House 115 E. River St. Savannah, 31401 Fiddlers Crab House 131 W. River St. Savannah 31401 Both got 5 stars and look good. So folks, any preference? I'd like to have a final decision posted by this weekend. Oh, and by the way.......I CAN'T WAIT ![]() |

So, do we have any preferences over the two locations posted above? Has anyone else looked into either?
Tubby's Tank House looks to be more casual outside dining while Fiddlers Crab House may have a better view of the Savannah, tho both are on the river. Tubby's does state "sit, relax and watch the tankers run the Savannah". Personally I don't think we can go wrong with either but I guess I was just looking for some input. Either way, we'll have a good time ![]() |

At this point, I'm really leaning towards Tubby's because of the size of their outdoor deck.
I'll call today to get specific parking info and post my findings. ![]() I'll also toss out for consideration due to travel time (home afterwards), pushing the time back an hour to 2:00 for this venue. I'd like this to be a group thing so does anyone else who has expressed interest have any thoughts on this? I can actually taste the oysters ![]() |

I just got off the phone with both eateries and neither have a dedicated parking lot/space. Both have metered parking on the street and both have parking lots within a block or two. My thinking is that we're doing this Meet n Eat in Savannah for the river ambience. That said, I feel a Red Lobster, Longhorn Steakhouse, etc are out of the question despite the fact they generally have their own parking lots. As Al had mentioned, and I agree, it would be ideal if we could all park together. Since I don't know Savanah, does anyone monitoring this thread know the area enough to select a "meeting location"? From there we can all carabug to the closest parking lot. Since I haven't had any input as to location I'm going to make the call that Tubby's Tank House it is. The only other suggestion and I'd posed this question before, do we want to do this an hour earlier than previously scheduled? Oh Ya, did I mention that I can already taste the oysters?
