I'm supposing. Like the Stone Mountain GTG, it gives enough time to just relax, allow people to show up and leave at a decent hour to get home

I so wanna be there, but you know.... Roswell. I want to go at least once. I'm really torn though. If a Brinks truck drops me off a crapton of money, i'll be able to pull both GTG's off. My heart will be there for sure

My girlfriend and I were there. Did you park your Beetle with all the other VWs in the show? If so, which one was it? I saw one blue NB with newbeetle.org license plate surrounds...

Anyway, I'm up for a GTG at the Oconee National Forest (I don't think it's a national park, by the way). I also wouldn't be averse to having a GTG somewhere down I-75 past Macon (to make it easier for Al), if we could find an interesting location in the vast South Georgia emptiness...

Actually, duh -- EuroRennen is that day too, and it's right next to Al in Jacksonville. I'd be perfectly happy to go to that one, and have an Oconee GTG in July or August or something...

It would be uber cool to hook up but EuroRennen is in Jacksonville, North Carolina.

Doh! I knew that, but my mind keeps "defaulting" to Florida and I have to remind myself -- I knew I'd screw it up eventually...

So yeah, never mind -- Jacksonville, NC is way too far away, for us Atlantans and Al alike!

Al, I know this GTG is last moment, and I figured you might not be able to make it, especially with going to Roswell and all. That's fine, I just wanted to keep the GTG vibe alive. Remember you have to plan yours in August and finally we'll come down to you! You've been doing a lot of traveling to other GTG's, it's time for us to visit you good buddy!

And I did see that EuroRennen is the same weekend. I, personally, don't want to drive too far for this GTG. I was thinking this one could be just a few hours and we all go home. I'm hoping Matt will be able to join, but for him weekends are very hard to come by. I want him to save his time off for when we go to Al's GTG. So, I wanted to make this one simple and just a short meet and greet so to speak. I'll be going to the TDI GTG in Asheville next weekend, which I don't know if Matt will be able to attend either. So, this is a simple GTG and I hate to stomp on EuroRennen's toes, but I'm looking for something a little more low key and a one day, short trip kinda thing.

Our little GTG certainly won't be stepping on EuroRennen's toes. It's a huge event and honestly, a little snobby. Our little nB's would get little notice amongst all the high dollar Euro rollers.

I didn't realize Oconee National park was a 2 hour drive. I was hoping for something a half hour closer but we'll be there nonetheless. I'll pack up some sammiches. Might even whip a batch of bitchin' chicken to share. Looking forward to getting together again.

I don't think its 2 hours from here, even the website says 1 hour east of Atl Lake Oconee | Lake Sinclair | Georgia's Lake Country

I google mapped it and it said about 78 miles from Augusta.

After looking at the website, it looks like Oconee National Forest has parking fees to attend their parks. So, up to you guys, want to meet in the town or still up for the park and pay the parking fees?

Any idea what the fees are? I'd hate to shell out 15/20 bucks to hang out for a couple of hours.
