Any one want to get an NC meet going? I know there are a fair number of us around but I've yet to meet any of you! And with a lot of meets further south, it would be nice to have something a bit more close to home. What do you say?

I am game. I can put together a pretty good run and meeting in the central area of the state. (I hate to say it but once again drawing from Miata events)
Or we could just all meet up someplace.

Scenic Byways
There are some truely beautiful drives in this area. Plenty of unique places to eat or picnic Morrow Mountain State Park is a great place. Oh and lets not forget Seagrove Pottery NC Zoo |

Fall can be a great time. The leaves in this area are often as pretty ( sometimes prettier) than in the Mountains, and you do not have to fight the traffic. Oh and we have some pretty awesome curvey roads!

Its not too bad. I liked it for awhile. Its just not a big town. If you like small-town living then you will love it! Its got a cute little main street with a lot of cool local restaurants and shops. And Charlotte and Concord aren't too far (there you got your bigger malls and stuff). If I lived there and not on a college campus I'd probably like it more too. My campus was just too small. I was tired of knowing everyone's business by the time I graduated. Plus, I fell in love with Raleigh <3

That sounds perfect for me. I grew up in a small town. I don't like this big city living in Atl. Bleh! I'll have to check it out sometime. It looked really cute and filled with history and things. I'm sure Matt would be in for a NC GTG as well. He loves history and there is a lot to be had in NC!

OK folks a couple of questions.
would folks rather have 1) seneic drive with a stop for lunch at some famous "local" eatery and then drive some more? ( basically a whole day of driving) 2) meet at some local unique spot( somthing like this) Drive through Animal Park with over 750 animals, petting zoo at Lazy 5 Ranch, Mooresville, NC and a shorter drive and maybe lunch or dinner 3) a multi day event combining some of both Do folks prefer something like the animal park? Wine tasting? State Park? |

I'm down for any of it. I actually never got to Lazy 5, even though I was at school down the road for 3 1/2 years! A wine tasting might be fun too. I know Childress Vineyards is in Lexington. If I'm out that way, I would probably be in the area for a weekend visiting my former roomies at Catawba.

Ok
Will do some checking this week. BTW Childress's wine has really gone downhill, I think they are now using their own grapes where before they were purchasing grapes from other growers. We were using their wine at our annual fundraiser, bit this year it was so bad we had 1/2 of it left over. We had to promise folks we will not use it again next year. There are some great winery's here in the state. Some of the smaller ones give private tours/ tastings (often by the owner!) Anyway I will work on looking up some places and drives and then folks can decide which they would like to have happen Quote:
