Thumbs up Georgia GTG - February 2010

Ok, here is a run down of the event.

Date: Saturday February 27th, 2010.
Start: 10am
Location: Bruce Weiner's Micro Car Museum
2950 Eatonton Road
Madison, GA 30650-5028

Admission is $5 per person for the museum

From there we can hang out in Madison and eat or head back to Toad's place in Atlanta.

SO, here is a list of those people who have expressed interest in this GTG. I know I pm'ed a lot of you and sadly, I have forgotten which ones of you said "no" and which ones of you said "maybe" So, don't be surprised if you get yet another pm....asking if your coming. This GtG is coming up so lets all try to commit to this as best as possible. I know things happen and I understand if you say "yes" today and have to back out later. That's ok. Just let me know. So, here's the list:

MichelleRoze
Toad
sullyTDI
shellbug
CaptainXeroid
Th1rt3en
HarlequinPixie
AyaneEiketsu
Fritznbug
FreakyBeetle
mrchaotica
SilverDieselDemon
vibelife
70autostick
NBC08
Emi

if you can't make it and want your name removed from the list please just let me know. I know not all of you are coming back toward the Atlanta area to hang out and that's ok as well. If you just want to come to the museum, that's ok. So, let's get this baby rollin'!!!

maybe possibly we'll see.

the only question would be which car do i bring?

--mk2 tdi150
--jetta 2.0
--jetta 2.5t wagon on air

if i bring the wagon, i could truck down my awesome new grill, 7 burners, 2 propane tanks, and literally can cook enough dead animal to feed the entire org...at once.

well, if you bring the wagon, I'll make Matt bring his. That way you aren't the only wagon there. But then again, TDI's are always welcome too, regardless of it's model.

the tdi i don't know if i trust to make the trip yet, every time it gets running well, something else breaks.

the wagon is boosted, which makes for lower economy, but more spg (smiles per gallon).

the sedan is my old faithful, she's super relaible.

even better on 16x9.5's stretching 215s, right?

of course, that would mean hacking up the r32 bumper a bit to make it fit over the ic...i'm bumperless right now.

I'll see what I can do about getting a bbq.

I would like a head count of who's going to my place afterwards. I'm fine with y'alls drinking a lil, but its byob. There's a fire pit in the backyard that I've been dying to try so we can do a fire after it gets dark too.

What are people gonna want to do when they get to my place? Anyone got any work/mods in mind?

Also keep in mind I'll need to go to work early the next morning

I just mapquested the distance from Madison back to my place, and it's a good hour and 20 minutes away (it takes almost a good hour to get back to Atlanta itself and i'm on the other side of the Atlanta perimeter)

Also, there are a LOT of grub options, part stores, and even a few liquor stores all within a 5 minute radius of my house. So if the grill option doesn't pan out, we won't be left hungry or without anything to do

Good to know, thanks for the update!

So, looks like this is a go. I'm going to be sending out some messages to those who showed interest in the previous thread. Then I'll create a list of attendees....plus if anyone has work they want to do at Toad's, let me know and we'll start a work list too I love GTG's!!!

ahhhh, thats a big no. sorry. looks like the time we get back to my place and the time the sun goes down will not allow that to happen. i do not want stranded bugs at my place overnight because something couldn't be done in time. i'd just feel bad for that person.

i have no problem fixing cars that day, but i don't want any take the whole friggin side of the engine apart work to be done.

i think joey's got a mighty-vac, that's good enough. we used that plenty of times.

as for suspension, i think joey wouldn't mind doing that one weekend before the gtg, talk to him, i'd trust him to do it. if not, and i'm there, i'll have air tools, so i'd say it'd take me 3 hours to do, less if i have a helper.

The mighty-vac is somewhere in new beige dude, but they're cheap enough at harbor freight if theres enough brake/vacuum work to be done i wouldn't hesitate picking another one up.

I wouldn't go crazy trying to line up stuff if i were you, until you see what i'm working with here currently. I have enough on my plate right now, in work needed on both of my cars and in work on getting the place presentable. I at least want to get the secret project car running before the gtg But we need to spend resources elsewhere before we can even make our huge ecs order.
