Lightbulb ATL GtG - Food is on me!

Ok, I propose another Atl GtG! Date has yet to be set but shall be soon! Here are the details:

I will be getting my suspension parts soon ( I hope ) and to save some money, I'm going to need some help putting it in. Now, I'm no genius, but I'm not dumb either...but the more that help (or just hang around and offer advice) the faster it can get done. And sometimes we just need multiple brains to knock around and get it done right too.

So, who's up for it? As soon as I get the struts/shocks, I'll let ya'll know when the GtG will be. I figured, I would be nice and at least buy everyone something to eat. Now, nothing fancy, but I do have a Mellow Mushroom near my house and it would be a great way to hang out, say hey again or for the first time, and who doesn't love to wrench on cars? I mean,.....seriously? lol

If you have tools PLEASE bring them. I will try to borrow the spring compressor again. And depending on if other things come in on time as well....may change out my brake calipers So a brake bleeder might not be a bad idea either. Anyway, so that's my proposed Idea. I really need the help more than anything.

I will ask my mother if I can borrow the garage for a day or however long. And if that doesn't work then maybe we'll hit Toad's place again. lol

So what do ya'll think? Sound fun? Stupid? Let me know.

All that dealer training is finally coming in handy I suppose, but if jose agrees to come up, i can come down.

Michelle, I'd be up for this, depending on the date. I've got impact wrenches (both pneumatic and electric) and torque wrenches if you needed them. I took your advise and installed my new skid plate and side panels (Full Metal Jacket)last weekend, and shocks and struts are next. I'd love to help with a strut install since I have never done it before.

Yay! Glad to see this materializing a bit. I got word that Koni should be shipping this week. So hopefully I'll have my parts no later than April 1st.

So, for weekends in April....what works for everyone?

Tim, would love to have you join! Feel free to bring any tools you'd like. I don't have any tools at my house, so I want to make sure we have what we need! Thanks!

Alright folks, it's official, the parts are on their way! Looks like they'll be arriving just before Easter! Hope the Easter bunny is strong, that's gonna be one heavy box! Plus, I did it, I bought a steel skid plate too. So, I have tons of new goodies to install. Just need some peeps to help.

What weekend works for ya'll? I've got one more little snag....I now have a job that requires me to work until 3pm on Saturdays.... So it'll have to be after that time. Unless of course, Matt can take me to work or pick up the car or something and ya'll can start without me. As long as someone doesn't forget to pick me up at 3pm lol

So, let's think. What weekend works? I know most people are probably doing something Easter Sunday. But what about That Saturday before?

Michelle,

I'm close by in Athens. Though I haven't done shocks/struts before, I'm willing to assist. I also have a new mityvac fluid extractor that needs to be broken in if anyone wants to do a topside oil change. Most weekends look good except Easter weekend.

BTW, will you be doing the LCA and sway bar bushings?

Jim

Yes, I will be putting in rear TT bushings. So, we'll need something to pop them out with I suppose. I'm thinking we're going to skip Easter weekend since I now have to work on Saturday's until 3pm. But I'm going to ask for the following Saturday off, April 10th, I believe that's what it is. If not, I may do the weekend after, but really can't do much later than that. I want to be able to break the suspension in before driving it long distances.

Anyone have any idea how to put on steel skid plates....with rivnuts? I'll be getting that in too and needing to install that. Might need the mityvac if I can get my calipers rebuilt in time. Sounds like we'll have PLENTY to do!

So what works better? April 10th or April 17th?

the rivnuts are pretty easy once you do one, the rest are cake. they did give you the special tool to do it, right? If not, i know, a bolt, a few washers and a nut does the same job pretty easily. (that's how i did mine)

The 10th would work better for me. I've got the rivnut tool that Diesel Geek supplies with his skidplates. Also have torque wrenches and impact wrenchs if needed. I should have a spring compressor and the tool for spreading the strut mount by then too. (I'll be upgrading my suspension soon).
