Bug-a-Palüza 13 — April 15-17 — East Ridge, TN

I can't make a serious commitment, but I may go. I've placed at this show in the past, but with my first nB. It's a great show with a lot of GA people and good times. It's more aircooled but they have a healthy respect for us waterwagens. Also, they'll have the new Chattanooga, TN built Passat (the "NMS") on display for all to see -- that alone would be worth going to the event. You can camp at the event, too, which if I go... I'll probably be doing just that.

OOOH!!! Anyone who goes to the show will get a private tour of the VW Plant!!! I am DEFINITELY GOING!!!! I have to get SO many things going...fenders, woodworking...painting...OH MAN... good thing I can put the house on hold right now!!

if anyone has any info on bugapaluza, pls PM me. I want to go so bad, but I dont know if I can enter. my bug isnt fully stock, ive painted the factory rims spokes black inside spokes pink, the ones that can take the inserts. I just couldnt afford 1k for inserts for all 4 tires. I have a decal trim on side of car just small butterflys with a vine looks around them. fits inbetween bottom of window and top of door handle. I have seat covers and lil trinkets on my dashboard, emblems on my trunk, and collage team magnets on my trunk. Theres a few things inside that are broke. Motor is straight stock. Radio is aftermarket, was properly installed with dash kit and wireing harness. I really one done some of her appearence, if you need pics to tell me if I can enter her pls ask. I just dont want to miss out if I can enter. I just want to show her off, not looking to win anything.
Thanks

Bug-a-Palüza 13 — Show Classes

You'd be in the New Beetle Custom class, with me, if I'm reading the guidelines right. There are only two New Beetle categories... stock and custom.

Stock - For the most part, the vehicle is basically as it left the factory (Restorations OK). No body modifications. Any replacement parts should have a stock appearance. Vehicle may have mild custom modifications as listed below.
  • Paint and Body - Does not have to be the original color, but must not distract from a stock appearance (Maximum 2 colors, no heavy metallics, flames, etc.). Must have original style trim and bumpers.
  • Wheels/Tires - Common styles of aftermarket wheels OK as long as tires remain near stock size. Very slight lowering allowed.
  • Interior - Must have stock style seat covers, door panels, dash. Aftermarket stereo system allowed (as long as it does not distract from an otherwise stock appearance).
  • Engine - Stock to very slightly modified. Dual carbs, common styles of aftermarket exhaust systems OK.
Custom - Anything that doesn't fit in a stock class.
Modified (Water-Cooled Classes) - Stock overall but with visual aftermarket modifications such as suspension or substantial motorwork.

This is a show not to miss! I have attended every show from BAP 2 - BAP 11. I was in the hospital last year with my son being born for BAP 12. Anyway, I highly encourage everyone to make this event. We typically head up Friday afternoon and camp out for two nights.

Who else is going?

It was nice to see everyone on Sunday. As usual I came in making quite the scene: getting stuck in the camping area thinking that's where everyone was parked, and then busting a coolant line in show parking and having to do a duct tape repair job (that held, I'm home, and drove to work on it).

Talula has yet to recite anything she learned from listening to all of you, but I am sure after we've both caught up on our sleep she will be full of happy banter from the show.

Matt took pics of the hose, the line came unclipped and rubbed the radiator support and put a hole the size of a ball point pen (or smaller) into it. Didn't start leaking till I was getting ready to pull into my parking space. Patches knows just when to malfunction, I'll give him that.

Thanks to freakybeetle for use of the jack, since it was easier to get to than mine, vwtech73 (Bushy) for the coolant and help with the lower hose reconnect and exceptionally useful tips, Matt for his unwavering positive attitude and help with reconnecting the upper line and finding a catch pan for the coolant flush, and anyone else I've missed in this -- I think it was freaky's mom who gave me baby wipes to clean myself with. Bless each and every single one of you for your kindness.

Matt: pics! I can't wait to see the face I made while holding that blown line! haha. I have no finger nails left from the drive home, have had to add a little (Not a lot, still above min marks) coolant to the car but not seeing any leaks. Gonna order a hose today.
