Default Allibug is moving to Durango, CO

So I am quitting my job, loading up my car, and driving across the country beginning January 20th.

Craziness. I know.

I am hoping that there are some newbeetle.org people nearby that will come out of the woodwork, as I will miss my MD crew so much.

We are also going to be looking for places to stay along the way, we'd greatly appreciate a free floor. We will be going south through Nashville, Little Rock, OKC, and Albequerque.

So please get in touch with me if you are nearby one of our stops or Durango. I'd love to get a VW GTG/Show together this summer!

One year later I was the bar manager at the hottest restaurant in town and driving a yellow MGA.

U'll like it there.

Good luck in your travels and at your new home, Alli. I am completely fascinated by the western United States so I'm excited for you that you get to experience that first hand. So much beautiful land. So rich in history; both bloody and peaceful. I can't imagine you'll ever run out of new things to do and discover. My only advice is to soak it all in, explore all you can and take a lot of pictures and share lots of stories!

Cheers to surely eventful 2008!

Hi there!! Let me be the first Coloradoan to welcome you to our beautiful state. I live north of Denver, about 400 miles from Durango. If you were coming north, I would defintely offer you the spare bedroom! Will you go to Roswell next year?? You'll be so close! Maybe we could get a GTG planned for summer sometime. Seems like it's been difficult to get Colorado beetlers together.

Good luck with your road trip!

Hey Cori!

I will make it up to Denver for sure once the weather gets warmer. Ya'll have malls there, right? I think I am going to go into shopping withdrawl living in Durango. I will go to Roswell, so hopefully we can meet up and cruise together. We should talk more about getting a GTG planned, maybe in Telluride or somewhere a little more central in CO. I look forward to meeting you!!

Get togethers, carabuggin...I get giddy just thinking about it! Allie, Denver has a lot of malls - Cherry Creek, Park Meadows, Flatiron Crossing, etc. I am always a willing volunteer for shopping, although I'm a bit short on cash now. Maybe we could start a thread for a GTG sometime soon.

Good luck on the trip Alli. You'll like the southwest part of the state. They have been getting dumped on with snow so I hope you have some good biscuits. Hopefully you like to snowboard or ski.

Slightly off topic but....

Cori the one time I saw anything posted you were the one that did not make it. Granted it was a cold winter day last year but a few of us did make.

There is a very active VW scene in Colorado. Check the regional Rocky mtn vortex forums for updates on gtg'ers.

Again good luck on the trip Alli.

Um yeah, ONE Beetle-only GTG in the 3 years I've owned Daisy (and I think 3 Beetles made it). I have gone to one Vortex dinner GTG and I didn't like it. The only other Beetle there was brought by the owner's son. All college guys, they cussed ALOT (f word) and drove way too fast on the run afterwards. I like to go fast, but I am also safe. I talked to a few nice people, but it just wasn't for me. I guess the Roswell/Round Up crew is more my style. I also went to Dubs Along the Rockies in 2006. That was nice. And there's VWs on the Green, but I heard that was not well attended in 2006. I don't remember seeing anything about it last year.

Alli - have a safe trip!! I hope the weather cooperates for you.

I'm a little envious. Colorado is one of the states I have always wanted to see. Have a safe trek, and take pictures of your travels, and your new home.

Wow Allibug good luck with everthing. Colorado is beautiful, I lived in a small town called Paonia for a year. I know we only meet once at H2O but you will be missed here on the east coast. Take Care

Let me also welcome you to Colorado! You will love it here no doubt! Our events probably pale in comparison to the East Coast events you are used to, but we're sure trying! In addition to VWOTG you already mentioned, we also have Dubs Along the Rockies in Colorado Springs, NuVintage Bug-In at Bandimere Speedway, Pinks! All Out also at Bandimere, 8th Annual Mt. Evans drive in the fall, Oktubber Fest, Dubcember (Charity event benefiting Childrens Hospital in Denver) as well as regular large monthly GTG's. Last but not least we are caravaning to the first annual Dub-Center in Lincoln Nebraska in June.

We are striving to keep the community thriving here in Colorado. I hope you will join us for at least a few of the larger events. I know that's a long journey for you...maybe make a weekend of it?!

Good luck with your journey!
