![]() It all depends, the winter has been semi-barren for GTG's. The last one we had was .. man... a few weeks before Christmas. Small turnout, but had fun ![]() I live in Longview, WA, bout 2.5 hours due south of you on I-5. Dnyed, (Deb) lives just south of me by 45 minutes, as well as a handful of other members. And then up near you, there is another handfull! So when it comes down to it, the question is, North vs South. Getting people up north to drive south has been tough. Getting people down south to drive north has been tough too ![]() I'm willing to jump in the car and go for a drive though. Perhaps on a weekend if the weather is nice, we can find a middle ground somewhere and just meet up? Of course if you want to come down this direction, you are more than welcome to do so. I'm all for meeting new folks ![]()

Well, we should see what a weekend in Feb. would be like...meeting in the middle somewhere might be a good idea.
What would it take to get to the coast for everyone? Sounds like a fun spring run though too. Maybe a small GTG for now, and then the coastal run...I LOVE BUG CARAVANS!!! People just look at us like "wha?" HAHA!!! |

Yeah, new beetle gtgs are pretty sparse. most people here are happy with yearly gtgs. its madness. if you wsnt to look into bi/weekly gtgs, i'd suggest looking at the pnw section of the 'tex. i dont know about out there, but here the dubbers are hardcore. we brave the cold. and its awesome.

Welcome Tara-
I have seen you around town! Join the Vortex, the local guys are pretty nice, and fun to be around... Every now and then we meet for dinner at Mi Tierra's or Ixtapa.. Its great, everyone lives in Monroe, so at the most its a 15-20 mile drive. My friends and I usually go eat every sunday after church at the hitching post. The place is super small, but the food is excellent... if you havent ate there, also go eat at Geno's. That place has been in town for 50 years. Plus, all these good eats, are in walking distance from your work... I grew up in town, can you tell? LOL! Last edited by yellowherbie; 01-26-2008 at 04:39 AM.. |

Hi. I'm new to the forum. I don't understand why other New Beetle drivers around town (PDX) don't nod, smile or SOMETHING. They just seem to ignore each other. I'm not for waving my hand off and acting like a total fool, but it just seems like some people would show a little comaraderie. Especially since there are so many New Beetles around Portland...

I've been through Seattle, Portland, most of Washington, up and down the coast, and a LOT of people don't wave or something. But then you get the ones that wave so frantically that you think they might snap off a wrist or something ![]() I have just about caused accidents cause people whiplash to look at my car. (heh). I'm 40 minutes north of you in Longview. We should meet up sometime, or, are you considering this February drive if the weather is good? ![]() |

It's ok!! GTG means get together. I don't wave to everyone...mostly because I ge looked at way funny. And now it's worse because I have a manual and I just learned not too long ago. =) 1.8T's are awesome too!!! I had a 1.8T GTI recently and I liked it, but might have liked it better if it had been a bug.
And Yellowherbie, the hitching post has awesome food!!!! And th Mexican rest. are great here as well!! Todo Mexico is my fav!! We always go to the one in Snohomish. And, yes, I do know that Vortex has weekly meetings.=) My name is TJClover on there...just really would rather go with some other peope from here. We don't really know any fellow dubbers here anymore. My friend Rob, "Pef", was killed in a motorcycle accident in August before we moved here. Last July we visited here and were planning on going to a GTG with Pef, but they cancelled the Tues meeting due to July 4th, so we never met anyone else. Anyone willing to go to one with us??????????? You know you want to!!! HEHE!! |
