Stolen Diecast/RC Volkswagen Collection in NC

Our garage was broken into and my huge collection of Volkswagen toys were taken. The collection was kept in orange storage tubs similar to what Target is selling now (orange tub with black top). The collection consisted of 100's of Hotwheels & Matchbox cars all either VW Buses or Beetles. Collection also included Johnny Lighnings, Revell 1/18 scale and a bunch of Cars "Fillmore" Bus McDonalds and store sold diecast toys. The easiest to spot would be my huge scale Herbie remote control cars. I had the big orange bus and the white Herbie beetle.











Here's what just one of the tubs packed looked like. You can see how i had a bunch of duplicates of each car. I think there were about 10 tubs full of cars.


I'm keeping an eye on local flea markets, yard sales, craigslist and ebay...but incase anyone sees someone that just happens to sell a bunch of stuff - hopefully they're that stupid, please let me or the police know.

Yep...the day does suck..it could be worse. I didn't sleep at all last night. Then this morning I've been busy emailing out the photos to local TV, radio and newspapers. I've also tried the dealership and the local tuner shop. I even made a page on my neighborhood website ( http://www.sunsetparknc.org/missingcollection.htm )so our neighborhood group would see it......arrrg, i'm so pissed.

I know it's not my partner's fault, but I keep giving him dirty looks for putting them in the garage. I was always worried the dampness of the garage would ruin the cards or boxes the cars were in but never worried about someone breaking into the garage. They so easily could have gone in the attic.

Thanks for everyone's help....and yes, one day i'll still get my beetle!!! But thanks to the tanking housing market that day is slowing being pushed back further and further.

My survivors!!

I found these on the floor around where the storage tubs were. I'm now calling them "My Survivors". They'll help me start my collection over. Some of them are my favorite ones. And I'm glad I found the Cars license plate...that one would be hard to replace unless the cereal company still has hundreds of them. And it looks like I still have 2 of my mispacked cars..yey!!! I'm trying to think positive inorder to make the rest of the day not so bad.

I am very sorry to hear about this.

I too have a large colection of VW toys, although
probably nowhere near as large as yours. I've been
colleting for a good many years, and many of them are
not replaceable.

I wish you much luck in tracking the cars down.

dude that sucks big time , im a vw toy trading list , ill put the word out on there , its a good group and we look out for each other , maybe it will turn up , let me know if you wanna replace any of the stuff i have tons of extras
dont have a big bus or herbie , wish i did cause my 1/6 scale herbie died !

Great start to the weekend. I have some back. I got a call from someone that saw the flyers I'd been handing out to local places and they gave me a call to let me know they had purchased some of it and let me have it. Now the police think they know who did it from this person's description and it's all about finding the rest.

The guy that we think did it is a crackhead so I doubt he's putting it on ebay or craigslist, so if it does show up it's people that bought it from him.

I'm so excited!!

Still missing are the big Herbie RC's and the tubs full of hotwheels and matchbox cars.
