VAG-COM for 2001 NB

Where can I get an affordable VAG-COM that works? I see lots of them on eBay, but will one of those work or should is there a better place tp get one?

I have tried a couple of different E-Bay cables and neither one of them have worked with Windows Vista or Windows 7.

If you find one that does work please let me know. I really would love the "REAL" thing but I just can't afford $350 bucks for the cable and software.

I saw on Ross tech website that they have for $249 but I'm not sure about that price. Seems like an easy to make cable but the software is what would get me I guess

Yup, the $249 cable and software would work for the 2001. If I would get one I would get the one that can read the later model VW type cars as well. The 249 version can't read the Later models that have Can Bus.

Yup the cables seem easy enough but they just don't work. I contacted the sellers and they told me I should downgrade my Laptop to Windows XP 32 bit version and it should work then. I told them No thank you. I will keep my laptop just the way it is. If you have a Laptop with XP 32 bit then you might have more luck with the Cheapo E-Bay cables than what I had.

Well unfortunately that isn't the case. I have a vista that has the innards of a alienware and that isn't getting downgraded lol
