My wife and I were running errands yeysterday and decided to stop at the local VW dealer to look at 2006/2007 Beetles. My wife wants to replace the Beetle we have in 2008 most likely. While there, we got a static demo of the new Eos convertible. Wow! The model we looked at was white with cream interior and the DSG transmission with "shift paddles" on the steering wheel. The clamshell hardtop also has a panorama type sunroof on it, as well as a pop-up mesh windblocker that comes out near the top of the windshield frame. The trunk is pretty decent size when the top is up. When the top retracts, it does protrude into the trunk. It also has a monitor on the dashboard that alerts you when the opening/closing of the top has completed its cycle. The driver seat has a memory setting that automatically moves the seat forward when the seatback is moved forward to more easily allow rear ward access to passengers. The front windows slightly lower themselves, then go back up, much like the Beetle convertible, when opening and closing the doors. The sticker price on this car was $35,xxx, which I thought to be decent; given the fact there are only 2 hardtop 4 passenger convertibles that I know if at that price and below (the Pontiac G6 being the other). The 2.0T engine is rated at 200 hp. I didn't take a test drive, as I am not serious about a car purchase at this time, and this car was inside the showroom. I'll wait till next month when they say 2 more Eos models will arrive. In a nutshell....this is a fun looking car!!!

Back to reality, this won't be a car we will be buying, a hardtop Beetle will be the candidate....given our needs and realistic attitude.
